Ever since we made the move into our “new” offices in 2009, our environmental commitments have been a high priority. We’ve focussed on sourcing carbon neutral suppliers, implementing carbon-saving strategies in our office, and harnessing the power of technology to reduce our team’s carbon footprint. In June 2022, our superstar Compliance Manager Marianne also agreed to take on our sustainability agenda, driving forward our progress towards net zero. Since then, we’ve joined the SME Climate Hub, making our SME Climate Commitment pledge to “halve our emissions before 2030 and reach net zero by 2050” aligning with the UN Race to Zero campaign and the 1.5°C ambition.
ISO 14001 certification
We have also kickstarted our drive towards ISO 14001 certification by the end of this year. The ISO 14000 family of certifications, recognise and accredit a business’s commitment to Environmental Management. The ISO 14001: 2015 standard specifically focusses on environmental performance and will help us to achieve the intended outcomes of the standard including value for the environment through:
- enhancement of environmental performance;
- fulfilment of compliance obligations;
- achievement of environmental objectives.
The standard will hold us accountable, ensure we are maximising the environmental potential of our business, and will ensure that environmental commitments are entrenched at every level of our business.
We are on track to achieve the standards by the end of 2022, thanks to Marianne’s hard work and commitment.
